- Actually, I already have the manual. I'm a registered owner of both
- B&P and Patchmeister, and never have I seen a company with poorer support
- than Blue Ribbon. I'm *still* trying to get the damn Patchmeister drivers
- for the SY77 and the Wavestation. I can live without the SY77 driver,
- because the TG77 driver works for most of the SY's functions, but the
- Wavestation isn't represented in the PM archive I bought. Call after call
- to BRS got me nothing but a phone bill, and I'm *still* not allowed to
- access the appropriate file areas on the BRS BBS. I don't have a
- Compuserve account, so you can see why I might feel a little less than
- charitable towards this cartoon-oriented company.
-
- As to your point: I seem to remember something like what you describe
- for multiple recording, now that you mention it. If that';s so, I stand
- corrected. On your second point you need some correction. Simply playing
- a sample at a fixed pitch is not "coping with internal samples just
- fine". In Music-X if I want to use a gritty 8-bit sample for a special
- effect I can *play* a solo with it if I want from my keyboard. I can do
- all sorts of things things with it you can't even begin to do in B&P. The
- 2.0 upgrade added a lot of sample support, and it's a shame that MX has
- been so overlooked as a sample player. Note that I did not say "tracker".
-
- My original point, believe it or not, was not so much to disparage
- B&P as it was to state that different people have different needs and
- expectations. I have really tried to like Bars & Pipes, but for the life
- of me, I just can't. Music-X suits the way I work fine; I like using it,
- I like the music I make with it, and (not necessarily best of all, but
- nice) people pay me real money to use it.
